Comparing Numbers
Hey guys!!!!! One of the topic on math is comparing numbers. For some reason it's a topic that students understand but they need a little reinforcement. They got confuse on the comparison signs. As I was searching online I found some great ideas.
Even though I have first graders, they do LOVE videos, songs and stories. Here are some videos I use to teach comparing numbers.
I also found nice activities and games about the alligator. Yes, I love to use interactive and online games for mi kiddos.

I love this activity from Rebecca Anderson because the students can also build the number with linking cubes. It's FREE. To grab it just click the following picture.
Another way to explain math concepts to the students is using stories. Believe me they ENJOY it!!! I create a short story that explain the comparison symbols. It include exercises. You can use on your smartboard. (You have to click on print and then teacher's notebook. It will open on notebook -smartboard-). There are 2 versions: Spanish and English.
You can find them here
If you like to do hands on like me well I found Alex the alligator Craft. You just need green paper construction and white for his teeth and a circle for the eye. I took it the idea from A Sunny Day in First Grade.
But if you want to use Popsicle sticks then you might want to do this one. You can take the idea from Mrs. Qureshi on her blog called Second Grade Scoop.
I found incredible math centers. One of them is from Erica, she is a first grade teacher with a Master's in Literacy. Just click on the following picture and it will take you to her site. It's free you just have to subscribe.
Another one I use is from Anne Gardner. It's very simple you just need card games and print the template. To grab this template just click on the following picture.
Math center using dice. (from Ms. Manulek) Click on the picture.
Another record sheet (Bridget Hildebrand). Click on the picture.
My students also love this center. It's from Judy Tedards. It's FREE. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Greater-Than-Less-Than-or-Equal-To-Clip-Cards-Comparing-numbers-1-10-2776389

Also I bought this hat for my guided math, my kiddos were excited. All of them want it to be with me (on my station). I'm a Dollar Tree and Dollar Zone fan. I bought it from Dollar Tree just $1
