50th days of school

Yeay!!! We’re celebrating 50th
days of School!!!!
]
We had a blast during this
week. My students learned about the 50’s. They compare daily life in the past
and life today. Also they compare and contrast clothing, food, games, and life
style of the 50’s and present.
We started by practicing the twist dance.
I used an informational slide I found on TPT from Bailey Lowe. It has nice pictures and a friendly explanation.
After that my students were able to write facts on a bubble map. I bought it from Crafty Bee Creations https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/50s-Girl-Boy-Craftivity-50th-Day-of-School-2176658
We listen, sing and dance the fifties song. I used this youtube video
My students preferred to dance Barbara Ann. Even the assistant principal from my school stop by to dance this one....
We talked a little bit about the type of food (50's). My students have the opportunity to create a menu by including food from the fifties. This document you can find it on my TPT store
Last but not least they compare daily life in the past and life today. I got the idea from Cara Carroll from The First Grade Parade. She came up with the most adorable 50's art project. My kids LOVED this! They were very creative on their writing.
You can also find the templates from Cara Carrol The First Grade Parade

On Writing, we were studying "How-to" so it came perfectly with the celebration. We did "root beer floats" and then write How to make root beer floats. This brilliant idea is also from Cara Carrol "How to make Root Beer Floats". This activity is included on 50th Day Mini Unit Math Literacy Activities
****Whenever I find the pictures I will post it....
